Should I go to the Eureka Skydeck Rave?

AI art. Prompt: “A DJ perfoming at a rave, inside of the Eureka Skydeck in Melbourne, in the style of the television show ‘Euphoria’

I should mention that I am a fan of live music. I have been lucky enough to see Fred Again.., Four tet, and Skrillex live after their legendary night headlining Coachella in 2023.

So live music as an experience is something I take seriously. And different ways of experiencing live music is also something I want to pursue. So, you must imagine my excitement when I heard there was a rave happening on the 89th floor of one of the tallest buildings in the Southern Hemisphere.

The event is $177. Which is more expensive than my ticket to Listen Out 2023, which was an event that lasted the whole day, rather than 8pm-2am in the famous tower.

The headliner for this event is Eric Powell. Someone who I have honestly never heard of. So, this is not a good start in the argument of me going.

Perhaps I will enjoy the music otherwise! Let’s see what the other benefits are. 8 Gourmet Appetizers per person? Hold on, this is a fancy event! This is meant to keep you fuelled for the night ahead. If there is 8, perhaps this may be true.

You also receive a welcome cocktail upon entry, and an alcoholic drink card to used during the night. As far as drinks and food are concerned, it will all depend on what they define as appetizers. Are these sausage rolls you would eat at a 10-year-olds birthday party? Or is it one of those fancy things served on a spoon with dry ice.

I clearly do not know enough about food…

But if that won’t convince you consider this, you will be partying and listening to music in one of the tallest buildings in the world. And it would be an amazing story to tell you friends, and others in the future.

Part of me feels like I will have conflicting experiences. At some points, I will be looking out at the various views during sunset. At other times, I will be involved in the experience of the music. I feel as though these are conflicting.

I have taken a look at who the event organizers are. Eat the Beat have been around since 2017 and have sold/promoted almost 620 events across the years. This is a clear indication that the team knows how to have a good time.

So, will I go? Probably not. I don’t have the money lol.

It’s not often that something like this happens. I don’t want to live a life where I say no to more things than I say yes. But that got me thinking, what type of life do I want?

I want to tell stories. And there is no better place to do this than in a blog/newsletter. I think there are a lot of people like me who feel unsure about what they want to do, and who they want to become. The only thing I know is, I want to tell stories. And this is a place where I can tell stories.

Every week, I am going to upload an entry where I talk about something I find, a story from the past, an up coming experience, or anything I think of.

Additionally, if you get sick of what I have to say, I want to also publish interviews. I have a few in mind but let’s see how this goes.

If you want to get alerts from when I post, please sign up to the newsletter below. It will be of great help and inspire me to keep going!

Anyways, I do not know how to wrap this up. Next week I will properly introduce myself and explain what this all is in greater detail. Thanks!
